Nik Turner - Hawkwind.- .Hawkwinds' Nik Turner and friend are pictured. The band settled on the name Hawkwind after briefly being billed as Hawkwind Zoo. Hawkwind being the nickname of band member Nik Turner, derived from his unappealing habit of clearing his throat (hawking) and excessive flatulence (wind). A bad LSD trip whilst at the festival provoked the nervous breakdown of guitarist Huw LLoyd-Langton.
